B-Safe Drink Spike Detection

B-SAFE is an electrochemical sensor for the detection of more than thirty unwanted substances in beverages and cocktails.

Detect various types of benzodiazepines: 1,4-diazepinetype benzodiazepines with the suffixes -pam or -azepam, like flunitrazepam (Rohypnol) and diazepam (Valium), as well as tricyclic derivatives of the triazolo- or imidazobenzodiazepine type (with the suffix -azolam, like alprazolam and midazolam). It also detects so-called “designer” or synthetic benzodiazepines (bromazolam, etizolam, etc.).

The device can also detect antihistamines (pheniramine, diphenhydramine, dimenhydrinate, promethazine, alimemazine, cyamemazine), opioids, and certain associated analgesics (codeine, tramadol, codeine-containing combinations), as well as certain illicit psychoactive substances, such as GHB and MDMA + Speed (Ecstasy). Antipsychotics (including quetiapine, currently undergoing validation) can also be detected.

Combine this tool with a Think Twice Drink Test Strip to detect “amine” based drugs like Ketamine, Scopolamine, and cocaine.

Instructions

Press the start button. Green indicator light flashes 1x for standard mode or 2x for aniseed (licorice) mode. Fully immerse the head of the B-Safe device into the drink. Wait until solid green light or flashing red light.

Before testing another drink rinse with water and gently shake the B-Safe device to remove liquid behind the sensor protection grid.

Best Practices

Mix the suspected drink thoroughly before testing.

Do not touch the sensors directly with a brush or cleaning tool.

After testing an aniseed (licorice) drink soak the B-Safe device in soapy water for 3 minutes, then rinse for 30 seconds.

If the B-Safe device detects a drug, carefully clean the device with soapy water and rinse, then check a clean drink (not water) to confirm a green light appears. Repeat cleaning process if needed.

Do not wash in dishwasher or use strong cleaning detergents.
