How does the Facial Recognition tool work?
The participant takes a selfie when setting up the smartphone application. Each time
they take a breath test the instructions suggest holding the phone like a video chat to
capture 7 seconds of video and audio, which are uploaded to the Cloud platform for
viewing. FR is used to help confirm the identity of the user only. A mismatch does not
stop the vehicle from starting because other variables like lighting are out of the driver’s
control.
